Oct 25: Seeing the Mudmen again on Friday was just the tonic I needed after a dull week of working from home.
Oct 13: Toronto boasts one of the largest arts communities in the world, just look around you. Yesterday, we saw a matinée of Remnants at the Tarragon Theatre, and found it very moving. It retells the biblical story of Joseph and his brothers, set in Poland and Canada in the years before and during World War II. Soon, we hope to see the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and McMichael Gallery.
Oct 3: The Liberals swept back into power last night, riding a wave of anti-Conservative resentment. Unfortunately, the NDP lost its Official Party status as a result of strategic voting. On a day that two Canadian soldiers were killed by a landmine in Afghanistan, barely sixty percent of eligible voters bothered to do their civic duty.

The right unites. The Progressive Conservatives, Reform, and Alliance sat idle on the right side of the political spectrum. A reborn Conservative Party of Canada could replace them by the next general election, expected in 2004. Consider that between the Mulroney government's collapse and today, there have been seven leaders claiming to represent conservatives across the country. A fall convention could elect another leader for this movement. With so much instability, will ordinary Canadians support a party that has such a clash of personalities, policies and beliefs?

The Ontario election wouldn't be the same without a little number-crunching and analysis.

The Open Source movement is thriving, thanks to products like OpenOffice.org 1.1, and Mozilla Firebird 0.7. If you're paying for an office productivity suite or using an outdated browser, consider switching. Best new features: "One-click Export to PDF," and integrated "switch to an alternate stylesheet," respectively. Both have vast support networks to allow for a seamless transition. Free software is like alternative medicine, not widely accepted, but it works.

Once again I've been neglecting my blogging duties, but my job search has kicked into high gear as new opportunities are within reach. However, as I approach various Jewish organizations about editing their sites, compensation becomes a thorny issue.
